(Rockville, MD)- May 3, 2006 -The Tech Council of Maryland (TCM) proudly announced today it will produce the first Mid-Atlantic CIO & CTO Awards, a new awards program to honor advanced technology companies and their Chief Information and Chief Technology Officers for outstanding achievement in IT design, business and infrastructure.
The Mid-Atlantic CIO & CTO Awards will identify and honor companies that are developing new IT strategies, practices and systems that help gain a competitive advantage and stimulate growth. The first awards program will take place in February 2007.
Companies and organizations throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region will be encouraged to nominate their CIOs and CTOs and other IT personnel through a formal nomination process. Applications will be solicited through the Tech Council of Maryland's membership and a massive public relations campaign.
"This will become an annual event to honor the industry's best in IT design and implementation," said Julie Coons, CEO of TCM. "According to a recent study, Maryland is the third fastest growing state for new technology jobs, trailing only Florida and Virginia. There isn't a region in the country that has this much technology talent in one concentrated area. We're going to honor those who are part of this enormous technology growth," said Coons.
Nominees will compete in several different categories and the winners will be named at a formal dinner in front of their peers.
For more information on the CIO & CTO Awards, or to find out how to sponsor or nominate companies, please contact Rick Harris, Vice President, Tech Council of Maryland, at 240-243-4070 or by e-mail him.
