TECH COUNCIL OF MARYLAND/MdBio ELECTS NEW CHAIRMAN, BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

(Rockville, MD)- May, 24 2007 The Tech Council of Maryland/MdBio (TCM) elected a new chairman, officers and directors to their board Tuesday at its annual member meeting. Dr. Edward M. Rudnic, president and chief executive officer of Advancis Pharmaceutical Corporation, was elected chairman of the board.

Previously the vice-chairman of MdBio, Rudnic replaces John Nyland, managing partner, Public Sector Business Consulting Services of IBM, who was chairman of the board for three years. Rudnic has more than 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in the development and commercialization of a wide range of products and drug delivery technologies. He has been a member of the Tech Council/MdBio for seven years.

"We are delighted to have Ed as chairman of our distinguished board," said Julie Coons, chief executive officer of the Tech Council of Maryland/MdBio. "His commitment and service to the technology industry and the Tech Council have been steadfast. The vast knowledge and experience he brings to his new leadership position will be essential as our organization grows."

Additionally, members voted new officers to term. Steve Trevisan, president of Accelovance, will replace Rudnic as vice-chairman of the MdBio division of TCM/MdBio. Larry Letow, President and COO of Convergence Technology Consulting, was elected vice-chairman of the Tech Alliance division of TCM/MdBio. Peter Black of M&T Bank will retain his role as treasurer; while, Steve Meltzer, partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, was appointed secretary.

The Tech Council of Maryland/MdBio's board of directors consists of 55 industry-leading executives. Twenty new directors were chosen at the annual meeting. New members elected to the board include:

  • Bill Hysell, vice president, Business Development, Comcast
  • Richard Johnson, vice president and CTO, Lockheed Martin
  • Christian Kleszewski, president, Trinity IMS
  • C. Randal Mills, president and CEO, Osiris Therapeutics, Inc.
  • Michael Peart, president and CEO, Peart-Hannon Consulting
  • Edwin Quattlebaum, chairman, president and CEO, MetaMorphix, Inc.
  • Michael Ratti, CEO, Regent Education, Inc.
