Mission & Vision

Maryland boasts one of the nation's largest concentrations of private/public bioscience companies and academic/federal research laboratories. To attract tomorrow's scientific researchers and enhance inquiry-based science experiences for Maryland high school students, MdBio Foundation started the successful MdBioLab program in 2003. The program's experienced scientists visit high schools and lead classes using research-grade equipment and techniques in an innovative setting.

Our mission is to:

MdBio Foundation has contributed more than $3 million to the MdBioLab since its start and continues to contribute more than $350,000 each year. This successful program has a staff with dozens of years of combined scientific teaching and information science education experience. This innovative program seeks to increase student experience and confidence with laboratory concepts and techniques while alleviating the budgetary burdens of laboratory science on schools. It also works to increase teacher self-efficacy with the concepts, theories and equipment.
