The Young Science Explorer Program (YSEP) is a one-week summer workshop exploring science in Maryland geared towards rising seventh and eighth grade students in Fall 2011.
MedImmune, Human Genome Sciences, Montgomery College, Towson University and MdBio Foundation provided an opportunity for middle school students to experience laboratory science and related careers. Students engaged in a weeklong project using various cutting-edge bioscience techniques. In addition to intensive hands on laboratory work taught by experienced instructors, students also participated in several field trips to local Maryland bioscience organizations, engaged in science career exploration, met with several local scientists.
Thanks to the generous support of MedImmune and HGS, all accepted students were awarded a scholarship that covered the cost of the Program (normally $350).
