2009 CIO Challenge Cup Golf Tournament Scheduled

Tournament to Provide Scholarships for High School and Community College Students

(ROCKVILLE, MD) – January 30, 2009 – The Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), representing more than 500 companies in the nation's second largest technology hub, in partnership with DogDenGolf announced today that its Annual 2009 CIO Challenge Cup Golf Tournament will be held on Monday June 1, 2009 at Manor Country Club (MCC) in Rockville, MD. The tournament is exclusively for CIOs, CTOs and those who want to connect with them.

"As in years past, proceeds from the tournament will benefit the educational community by creating programs around Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) disciplines and scholarships for high school students towards their education at a community college or 4-year college institution", said Larry Letow, Chair of the TCM Foundation and President and COO of Convergence Technology Consulting, LLC. "This is one of the area's fastest growing tournaments for IT professionals, run by IT professionals," he said.

The CIO Challenge Cup Golf Tournament will be contested this year at Manor Country Club, an 18-hole championship golf course recognized by Golf Week magazine as one of the nation's top five renovated courses in 2006. The day-long tournament will feature a shotgun-start, lunch, roving drink carts, special course giveaways, cash and travel prizes for the winners and a sit-down-dinner in the beautiful MCC clubhouse.

When you buy a foursome, we will invite three of your contacts to participate and then place one of the area's leading CIOs or CTOs into your foursome so you can meet and network with them.

"The CIO Challenge Cup Golf Tournament has quickly developed a reputation for being fun, competitive and one of the best IT events in our region," said Bob Diamond, CIO winner from last year's tournament. "The giveaways and prizes are first class and the closing dinner is a terrific networking opportunity," he said.

Last year's tournament generated $34,000 in revenue for TCM's Foundation.
