(ROCKVILLE, MD) March 30, 2010 The Tech Council of Maryland Foundation (TCMF) today announced Gary Gadson, Director of Business Development at AT&T Government Solutions, as its next Chair. He has succeeded Larry Letow, President and COO of Convergence Technology Consulting in Glen Burnie, MD, who recently stepped down as TCMF Chair.
Established in 2007, the mission of the TCM Foundation is to create and disseminate educational materials, produce programs and financially support Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education and workforce development initiatives throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
"Gary brings years of commitment and support to the technology community and has consistently shown his commitment to developing its next set of leaders," said Rick Harris, Executive Director of the TCM Foundation. "His appointment as Chair will allow the TCM Foundation to continue its growth and award scholarships to worthy students pursuing careers in advanced or integrated technologies."
Gary Gadson currently serves as a leader in AT&T Government Solutions, securing business development, sales, and marketing opportunities with federal government clients. Mr. Gadson is also responsible for conducting competitive research and developing business cases for the government, defense, and intelligence community markets. Mr. Gadson joined AT&T as a systems engineer, responsible for developing information security solutions.
"I'm thrilled to become Chair of an organization known for creating an environment that nurtures the next generation of skilled workers for our local technology communities," added Mr. Gadson. "In my new role, I look forward to applying my years of expertise to promote further growth of important educational initiatives, which ultimately benefit technology companies and individuals alike."
Prior to AT&T, Mr. Gadson worked in the areas of systems engineering, technology consulting, technology policy, and project management for Lockheed Martin and Booz Allen Hamilton.
Mr. Gadson previously served as Chair for the Prince George's County network of the Technology Council of Maryland and as a member of the CyberWATCH Industry Advisory Board at Prince George's Community College.
Mr. Gadson earned an M.B.A from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, an M.S. in electrical and computer engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.S in mathematics, graduating with honors from Bowie State University.
The TCM Foundation also named Art Jacoby, Principal of Jacoby Consulting and Rob Wolfe, President and CEO of AvcomEast to the TCM Foundation Board of Directors effective immediately.
