MdBioLab Travels to Capitol Hill to Promote Advanced High School
Educational Programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

MdBioLab on Capitol Hill to promote advanced educational programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to high school students and teachers.

Capitol Hill at the corner of Maryland Avenue and 3rd Street SW

10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

WHY:

The MdBioLab and other mobile laboratories across the nation are employing innovative educational methods to increase student education and interest in STEM fields and train the next generation of the biosciences workforce.

Celebrating an upcoming milestone of educating 75,000 students across the state of Maryland, the MdBioLab will visit Capitol Hill to educate Congressional leaders on the benefits of mobile bioscience laboratories throughout the U.S.

The MdBioLab is one of 65 mobile laboratories on wheels – comprised of a modified tractor trailer outfitted with advanced laboratory equipment. These mobile labs provide interactive classroom programs to schools with limited science laboratory facilities, offering hands-on education in bioscience in an engaging format.

SCHEDULE:

10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

MdBioLab open for Senators, Representatives, Hill staff and visitors to walk through and observe the lab´s industry-grade biotechnology stations.

Noon

MdBioLab instructors will conduct a classroom demonstration.

12:30 p.m.
