Maryland Technology Council and National Foundation for Infectious Diseases Partner to Co-locate Top Life Science Conferences in Greater Washington, DC Area

NFID 20th Annual Conference on Vaccine Research (ACVR) and the Maryland Tech Council’s Bio+Tech17 to be Held in April 2017

ROCKVILLE, Md, January 31, 2017 – The newly formed Maryland Technology Council (MTC) and the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) recently announced their partnership to co-locate two top life sciences conferences to be held in April 2017 in the Greater Washington, DC area. The NFID 20th Annual Conference on Vaccine Research (ACVR) is scheduled for April 24-26, 2017; and the MTC’s Bio+Tech17 Conference will take place April 27-28, 2017

ACVR and Bio+Tech17 will be co-located at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. Paid registrants to either conference are entitled to a 15 percent discount on registration to the other conference.

“We’re pleased to be working in tandem with NFID to promote each of our organizations’ conferences that bring some of the brightest minds from all over the world to the Greater Washington area,” said Maryland Tech Council CEO Tami Howie. “With our combined efforts, we expect these conferences to stimulate ideas, highlight successes, and further advance the life science, technology and vaccine industries locally, and beyond!”

In addition to co-locating the two conferences, the organizations will jointly offer a tour of the new state-of-the-art GSK global vaccines research and development (R&D) center in Rockville, Maryland. The tour will be offered on April 26, 2017.

“We are pleased to be able to offer ACVR attendees the opportunity to participate in Bio+Tech17, to increase networking and cross-industry collaborations related to research and development of vaccines and associated technologies,” said NFID Executive Director & CEO Marla Dalton, PE, CAE.

ACVR highlights the diverse disciplines involved in the research and development of vaccines and associated technologies for disease control through immunization. The conference provides high-quality, current reports of scientific progress and best practices featured in both invited presentations and submitted oral abstracts and posters. The 2017 ACVR marks the 20th anniversary of the conference.

About the Maryland Technology Council

The Maryland Technology Council (MTC) is a collaborative community that is actively engaged in building strong technology and life science industries by supporting the efforts of its individual members throughout Maryland. The Technology Council of Maryland, Inc. (TCM) and the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council (CRTC) merged earlier this month and formed the MTC. MTC will now provide a stronger influential legislative presence, as it represents more than 250,000 Maryland voters. It is the largest technology trade association in the state of Maryland with over 650 members. TCM provides value by giving its members a forum to learn, share, and connect.
