Optimal Networks Honored for Benefits and Programs Offered to Employees; Portal Solutions and DMI Selected as Runners Up
Rockville, Md. – (October 24, 2013) – The Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), Maryland’s largest trade association for technology and life science companies, today announced that Rockville, Md.-based IT services firm Optimal Networks, Inc. was the winner of the organization’s first annual “Outstanding Place to Work” award, Portal Solutions, a Rockville-based technology services firm and DMI, a Bethesda, Md.-based provider of mobile enterprise solutions and services were selected as runners up.
The TCM Outstanding Place to Work award was designed to showcase companies in the Mid-Atlantic region that offered unique benefits that add real value to the employees' work and personal lives. Other factors in determining the award winners included how management supports employees and helps them grow through communication, training and direct interactions, as well as how employees were recognized for their accomplishments and how charitable activities fit into the company's culture.
"We congratulate Optimal Networks for winning the TCM Outstanding Place to Work Award, and to the runners up, Portal Solutions and DMI. These companies have demonstrated that they truly understand their respective cultures, their driving forces and how to motivate people to achieve in their own environments,” said Philip Schiff, TCM’s CEO. “We received 40 nominations."
Optimal Networks demonstrated how much it values its 30 employees through a progressive corporate mindset that illustrates the company’s commitment to its core values. Optimal Networks fosters a culture of teamwork and compassion that guide every interaction, transaction and operational decision. This, when combined with its commitment to top-tier service delivery, is how Optimal Networks stands out from competitors. Optimal Network’s comprehensive benefits program even provides paid time off to volunteer and vote. The company also believes in sharing information with employees through one-on-one communication, small group meetings and company-wide events. Optimal Networks promotes fun, education and professional development through Spirit Days, a “Paths-to-Partnership” program that allows an employee who meets certain performance and longevity criteria to own a piece of Optimal Networks, and breakfast for all employees, cooked by the COO every Friday, giving employees an opportunity to socialize. For winning the Outstanding Place to Work award, TCM will treat Optimal Networks to a catered lunch.
Both Portal Solutions and DMI were recognized for their demonstrated commitment to employees and a supportive corporate culture designed to foster employee growth and retention.
“This award offers a great opportunity for the community and TCM to learn about the successful corporate cultures that discover, design, innovate and are on the path to vastly changing their industries,” Schiff added. “It's the management and employees who work so hard to move the needle on success, and we are honored to recognize those companies that have created outstanding work environments.”
