Tech Council of Maryland, JK Moving Services and CapRelo Partner to Support STEM Education and Talent Acquisition
JK and CapRelo to Offer Annual Scholarship to Maryland Students and Educational Programs for TCM Members
Rockville, Md. – (November 10, 2014) – The Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), Maryland’s largest technology trade association for life science and technology, today announced a partnership with JK Moving Services and CapRelo that is designed to support higher education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and deliver informative programming focused on talent acquisition to TCM members. JK Moving Services is a full-service moving company founded in 1981, which specializes in residential, commercial and international moving and storage. CapRelo is relocation management company, providing employee relocation and consulting services globally to private and public sector organizations.
Beginning in 2015, JK Moving Services will award a $2,500 scholarship to a student pursuing a STEM degree at a Maryland college or university. Criteria and application details for the STEM scholarship will be announced in early 2015.
“JK has always sought to assist children and families in need throughout the metropolitan Washington, D.C. region through our involvement with causes such as Fight for Children and Toys for Tots, to name a few,” said Charles Kuhn, JK Moving Services’ founder, CEO and president. “Our partnership with the Tech Council of Maryland provides a new opportunity for JK to serve the community that it has been a part of for more than 30 years.”
In addition to funding an annual STEM scholarship, JK’s sister company, CapRelo, will provide expert content to assist TCM’s membership in improving business operations, talent recruitment and retention, and supply chain management.
“JK and CapRelo approached us with a unique strategic partnership, which went far beyond a traditional membership or scholarship program,” said Philip Schiff, TCM’s CEO. “We look forward to working with the companies to bring greater value to our membership as we continue efforts to ensure that Maryland high tech and life sciences business communities are world-class.”
Over the next year, CapRelo will host a series of programs to educate TCM members on talent management strategies. The first event, a Talent Acquisition Roundtable, is scheduled for November 20 and will focus on strategies for STEM-related talent acquisition and recruiting. Talent management experts from CapRelo and HeliosHR will discuss how recruiting policies, benefits and employment offers can give companies a strategic business advantage. The event is free for TCM members and $35 for non-members.
